Local Radio in the Greater Cincinnati area

I come from a small town in Northern Kentucky, Union, which is just south of Cincinnati which is where most of our local radio stations come from. The three FM stations I listened to the most were 92.5 WOFX- classic rock, 90.9 WGUC- classical music and my personal favorite, 103.5 WGRR- classic rock and greatest hits of Cincinnati. 90.9 is owned by Cincinnati Public Radio, Incorporated, 92.5 and 103.5 are both owned by Cumulus Media which owns many various radio stations around the country. 103.5 WGRR’s ratings are 8.7 which currently lands in second place behind WLW-AM, a popular talk radio station that covers the news and local sports, in the latest Cincinnati Nielsen radio ratings. 92.5 WOFX’s ratings is are at a steady 5.5 which lands the station at 5^th place in the same Nielsen ratings and 90.0 WGUC’s rating are way down, despite having a recent increase, at a 1.9 which equates to the seventeenth spot in the Nielsen ratings.

Three stations attract most of the ratings in the market including 103.5 WGRR along with the previously mentioned WLW as well as 105.1 WUBE, a country centric FM station. These three most popular stations create an excellent communication of the most popular types of radio in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area with classic rock being a reoccurring genre in the local stations as four rock related stations rank in the top ten. There are plenty of options to choose from in the radio stations of Cincinnati from Alternative to current Pop hits as well as classical for Mozart lovers such as myself. Of course, satellite radio brings much more to the table than standard radio stations; my family and I switched to Sirius XM years ago and were not going to change our minds anytime soon about that. However, the local radio stations are still alive and well, especially the top three stations I brought up earlier, as citizens still listen to the Reds and Bengals games on WLW and country music fans such as my sister will avidly turn on 105.1 WUBE on a regular basis.
